Eggless Chocolate Cake

1 C sugar
1-2/3 C sifted flour
1/2 C cocoa
1 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 C buttermilk or sour milk
1/2 C margarine, melted
1-1/2 t vanilla

Combine dry ingredients. Beat in rest of ingredients and stir until smooth. Spread in a greased and floured 9×12-inch pan and bake for 30 minutes at 375 F.
