1 pint rum
1 pint brandy
1 pint vodka, grain alcohol, or aquavit

2-3 orange peels (i.e. the peel of 2-3 oranges), 12 cardamom pods, 6 whole cloves, 2 sticks of cinnamon, all tied in cheesecloth and boiled a while in 1-1/2 cups of water.
