Superfood smoothie

Recent studies have shown that cinnamon is good for your blood pressure and turmeric is good for your mental health. Other studies have documented beneficial effects of soy, cocoa, raw nuts, and high-fiber foods like raisins and oat bran. Nutritional yeast packs an incredible amount of B vitamins in a small serving. Salt is the only thing in this list that is “bad” for you, but it brings out the flavors wonderfully.

Makes 2 small but potent servings

1/4 C raw almonds, soaked
1/4 C dried currants, plumped
1-1/2 C soymilk
1 t soy powder
1/4 t cinnamon
1/4 t turmeric
1 t cocoa powder
1/2 t nutritional yeast
1/2 t oat bran
Dash salt (optional)
4 ice cubes
Cover almonds and currants with water and soak for 8 hours, or overnight. Drain. Combine drained almonds and raisins in blender with remaining ingredients and blend at high speed until smooth.
