Sweet Asian chili sauce

Similar to Vietnamese “Nuoc Cham.”

1-1/2 t red pepper flakes
1 clove garlic, grated
1/2 C sugar
1/2 C rice vinegar
2 C water
1 T fish sauce (optional)
Combine ingredients in a small pan and simmer for 10 minutes. Cool before serving.
