Tamari-roasted almonds

These are easy and delicious, and the raw ingredients are only 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of commercially-prepared tamari-roasted nuts.
quarter cup of tamari almonds in a small fish bowl
2 C raw almonds
3 T tamari

Preheat oven to 350 F. Spread the nuts on a silicon mat on a cookie sheet and roast for 5 minutes. Remove and sprinkle with the tamari. Mix until all the nuts are coated with the tamari (they will darken).

Return the nuts to the oven and roast for another 5 minutes. Stir them well, close the oven, and turn it off. Let the nuts sit for 15 or 20 minutes while the oven cools. They’ll get dry and crunchy.

Tamari-roasted hazelnuts: Substitute hazelnuts or filberts for the almonds.
