Vegan Faux Cheese Sauces

1/2 C nutritional yeast
1/2 C unbleached white flour
1 t garlic salt
1 t onion powder
2 C water
1/4 C margarine

In a saucepan, mix the dry ingredients and very, very slowly blend in the water. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until the sauce thickens and bubbles. Remove from heat and stir in the margarine.

When cold, it will be thicker, but you can thin it just by heating it up. Makes 3 cups.

Pizza Sauce:

Instead of the flour, use 1/4 C cornstarch with 2 T flour. At the end, blend in 1/2 C of oil instead of the margarine. Then stir in enough water (1/2 to 1 C) to make a thick, creamy sauce that pours readily. Spread this on your pizza and broil it.
